D&J Sports was the vendor for the Dolfin booth at the YMCA Nationals in Fort Lauderdale, Florida early April. One again, the Uglies were very well received. New from Dolfin this year were reversible Winners in both the one piece and 2-piece females. They prove to be a huge hit along with the male Winners brief with their very colorful all over prints.

Dolfin Reversible String Bikini
The hit of the YMCA Nationals swim meet last week in Ft. Lauderdale was the new 2 piece swimsuit from Dolfin. They have released a new style called the Dolfin Reversible String Bikini. This fun new suit is perfect for competitive swimmers and features a narrow 1″ side on the bottoms which is perfect for getting a great tan this spring and summer. Plus the top has a
thin strap for maximum tanning. Did I mention that this suit is also reversible? So you get 2 suits for the price of one. A solid color on one side and bright fun prints on the other side. There are 3 exciting prints to choose from including the Zaza Black, Zaza White, and Skittlez.
Dolfin has also released a new Reversible String Back 1 piece swimsuit with a cutout type back. The Dolfin Reversible String Back Swimsuit has the same fun prints and skinny straps as the 2 piece but with a little more coverage of the 1 piece styling. Don’t worry you will still get a good tan with the cut out back styling. Early buyers have said that both these suits fit a little big so we suggest ordering a smaller size than you normally do. I think we will see more prints next year in this fun new swimsuit from Dolfin.

Kids Swim Goggles
Kid’s swimming goggles just got a little more comfortable with the introduction of the Speedo Jr Hydrospex 2.0 swim goggles. The best-selling and best fitting goggle in the world for kids is the original Speedo Jr Hydrospex goggle. It features a soft 1 piece frame design with a nose piece that will not break and a split headstrap. The Hydrospex swim goggles also have antifog lenses so you can see in the water for your entire swim. But now Speedo has made this great goggle even better with the Speedo Junior Hydrospex 2.0. The 2.0 version has all of the same great features as the original version plus they have greatly improved the soft silicone frame and gasket system with even softer and more comfortable materials. This is by far one of the most comfortable goggles I have ever tried on. Speedo has also made the straps easier to adjust with the new Speedfit system that slides the strap loose or tight very quickly and effortlessly. So no more broken headstraps. The Speedo Jr Hydrospex 2.0 is a little more expensive but well worth the investment.
Swim Fins for Swimming Practice
There are many different styles of swim fins to choose from and we have some suggestions for you today. One questions I get all of the time is why do you need swim fins for swimming practice or training. Well swim fins are great for a couple of reasons. First of all they help teach proper kick technique and help build your leg muscles. They are also a very important tool to use during swim practice to help reduce fatigue and to keep your stroke from breaking down. Using swim fins will allow you to have more energy to focus on the rest of your stroke and help build a better stroke technique. Most coaches require swim fins for their swimmers and it is an especially critical tool for beginning swimmers.
Which swim fins are best for me? You have most likely seen long blade rubber swim fins and you might of also of seen the guy in the gym pool with the really short swim fins. Long swim fins are more for beginning swimmers who need more propulsion and they are also a little easier to use. The short blade fins are designed to give you a more natural feel of the water so that when you take off the fins there is less of difference in your kick without the swim fins.
Should I buy Zoomers or another short fin? Everyone seems to think that Zoomers are the best short fin, however the new short fins that are on the market now have an additional 20+ years of technology behind them. Do you want to buy a computer from 1985 or a computer from 2010? Same thing applies to the Zoomers vs the new short fins like the Speedo Optimus swim fins. The Speedo Optimus is a short blade fin with a slightly longer blade plus a cut out notch in the blade. The notch allow you to have a more natural feel of the water on both the down and up kick. See the technology thing kicking in! You will get a better workout with the Speedo Optimus swim fins and also your swimming technique will also improve. So don’t worry about that old guy in the lane next to you that is wearing the Zoomers, just smile because he is most likely also still using a computer from 1985. Happy Swimming!
Custom Printed Silicone Swim Caps
Are you looking for custom printed swim caps? We have a few tips to for you to get the best swim team caps. There are a few materials that swim caps are made of and some to avoid. Lycra swim caps are made of the same swimsuit material and will not last long at all. Latex swim caps are one of the cheapest swim cap options, but they will fade or turn colors over time. Especially when exposed to sunlight and some swimming pool chemicals. Many swim teams purchase printed latex caps due to economic reasons however if at all possible you should look into getting a silicone swim cap. They are less
likely to fade or turn colors due to sunlight and they almost never turn brown due to pool chemicals. Plus silicone swim caps are much easier to put on your head and will not pull your hair as much as the latex swim caps. They also are thicker and can last 3 to 10 times longer than a latex swim cap. So our choice for printed swim team caps is definitely the printed silicone swim caps. They are a little bit more expensive but are well worth the investment. Silicone caps can be printed with your team logo. Don’t have a swim team logo for your caps? Then ask D&J Sports Swim Shop to design one for you. They have a full-time artist on staff that can help you with your swim team mascot and logo. Plus they print swim caps for you also, at really great low prices.
